The Six Methods
Six battle-tested systems designed to help you start reading, prepare your heart, study Scripture, fight temptation, protect your spirit, and discover your true identity.
THE START METHOD
If you've never read the Bible consistently or don't know where to begin, this method gives you a clear starting point.
Begin with Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. Meet Jesus first before diving into the rest of Scripture.
RECOMMENDATION: Start with the Gospel of John for a clear picture of who Jesus is.
Don't rush. Read one verse at a time. Let each word sink in before moving forward.
TIP: Quality over quantity. One verse understood is better than one chapter skimmed.
James 1:22 says to be doers of the Word, not hearers only. Ask yourself what you need to obey, stop, or start.
ASK: "What does this passage require me to obey, stop doing, or start doing?"
Let the Word correct you without shame. Conviction is not condemnation. It's an invitation to grow.
ACTION: When the Word exposes something, thank God for the correction and turn from it.
Proverbs 3:5 reminds us to trust in the Lord with all our heart. You plant the seed; God brings the growth.
DECLARE: "I trust You, God, with what I'm learning and where You're taking me."
THE HEART METHOD
Admit you don't have all the answers. Approach the Word as a student, not a critic.
PRAY: "God, I need You. Wreck my agenda. Show me what YOU want."
Move from education to encounter. Believe that God is present and ready to speak.
ASK: "Am I here to meet God or just learn about Him?"
Don't skip uncomfortable verses. Let the Word confront and refine your character.
ACTION: STOP, write it down, and sit with it for 30 seconds.
Focus on heart change, not just head knowledge. Seek to be a doer of the Word.
ASK: "What does this change about how I live TODAY?"
Create space for His voice. Silence the noise and wait for the Spirit's guidance.
ACTION: Silence your phone, close your laptop, and sit in silence for 1 minute.
THE GLOW METHOD
Commands, wisdom, Jesus speaking.
Mark everything God directly says or commands in blue.
Dialogue, prayers, questions.
Mark human dialogue and prayers in green.
Movement, narrative, progress.
Highlight actions and events in yellow.
People, locations, key objects.
Mark names and places in orange.
Words to look up and research deeper.
Circle words you need to study further.
THE FIRE METHOD
When temptation hits, you don't have time to open a devotional. You need a system that works in seconds.
Don't negotiate. Don't "just look for a second." Your feet move before your mind catches up. (2 Timothy 2:22)
ACTION: Physically leave the room, close the app, put down the phone. Move your body.
What just happened? Boredom? Loneliness? Stress? Rejection? Lust is rarely about desire - it's about unmet needs and unprocessed emotions. (James 1:14)
ACTION: Name the emotion out loud. "I feel lonely." "I feel rejected." "I feel stressed."
Sexual energy is creative energy. It's not evil - it's misdirected. Channel it somewhere else immediately. (Romans 12:21)
ACTION: Do 20 pushups. Take a cold shower. Call someone. Go for a walk. Create something. Pray out loud.
The Word is your weapon. Speak it out loud. (Matthew 4:4)
ACTION: Memorize and speak: "No temptation has overtaken me except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear." (1 Corinthians 10:13)
THE ARMOR PROTOCOL
Based on Ephesians 6:10-18
Declare: "I reject every lie the enemy wants me to believe today. I stand on God's truth about who I am and who He is."
Action: Name one lie you've been believing. Counter it with one truth from Scripture.
Declare: "I am made righteous through Christ, not my performance. My heart is protected by His sacrifice, not my efforts."
Action: Confess any unconfessed sin quickly. Receive forgiveness. Move forward clean.
Declare: "I am ready to share the gospel and walk in peace today. My steps are ordered by the Lord."
Action: Pray for one person you'll see today who needs to encounter Jesus.
Declare: "Every flaming arrow of doubt, fear, and temptation will be extinguished by my faith in God's promises."
Action: Name your biggest fear for the day. Declare God's faithfulness over it.
Declare: "My mind is protected. I have the mind of Christ. I will take every thought captive."
Action: Commit to rejecting the first ungodly thought that enters today - not the fifth.
Declare: "The Word of God is my offensive weapon. I will speak it over my circumstances."
Action: Speak one Scripture over your day out loud.
Declare: "I enter this day through prayer, not in my own strength."
Action: Pray for protection, wisdom, and opportunities to glorify God.
THE IDENTITY FRAMEWORK
Your identity is not what you've done, what was done to you, what you feel, what others say about you, or your failures or successes. Your identity is what GOD says about you.
God wanted me before I existed.
Ephesians 1:4
My past is paid for in full.
Colossians 1:14
The old me is dead.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Created for good works He planned.
Ephesians 2:10
The Holy Spirit lives in me.
1 Corinthians 6:19
I have access to Kingdom resources.
Romans 8:17
I have a mission only I can fulfill.
John 20:21
